Adam is out. That makes me sad, especially because he fucking rocked last night after blowing the two previous weeks.
Scott is out getting stuff to kill all the wasp nests in our shed. |

We're pulled up the carpet on the stairs. It was disgusting, and the layers of dirt under the underpad were unmentionable. I have never been that filthy in my entire life.
I can't decide what to do with them.
We have a lot of wood trim in our house. All of it is painted dark brown. It looks nice, but eventually I would like to remove the brown paint, and refinish the wood. The problem is since we have so much damn wood trim, it would take forever.
So I am thinking of doing it one room at a time, but even then, it will be a huge pain and will probably have to wait until the kids are older.
So do I paint the stairs to match the trim and banister? The edges of the stairs are brown too, but where the carpet was is a lighter brown. Or do I try to remove the paint from the stairs and finish them? Even that might be too much work for the time being.
Who knew I would love doing house stuff so much.
Fucking hell. The city came out and we do have lead water service pipes. When we bought the house, we specifically asked the inspector to check and he said they weren't lead.
I wonder who I can complain to about that. Great inspecting.
Liam's speech eval went okay. He is quite delayed, but only in speaking.
I feel like they are kind of useless though. There is a parent group, but not until the fall where they teach you things to do with your kid to help them, which is okay. But it is freaking weekdays. Scott can't go. I can't go because of the kids. Should be interesting. |

So I once read that one possible cause of hyperemesis in some women could be the h. pylori bacteria.
So when I recently saw my doctor, I asked him to test for it. The test came back positive and I am starting this crazy treatment regiment.
I was excited because if there is even the little chance that it will help, I am so excited.
Anyways, I started doing some research, and apparently it is a huge risk of stomach cancer, and I keep finding stuff about how stomach cancer is deadly in young people blah blah blah.
So, being that my grandfather died of cancer I was freaking the fuck out,e specially since I turned down a colonoscopy last year.
I talked to the doctor today and I feel a lot better.
We went to this festival that is a half block from our house. They have music, food, games, crafts, etc. We've gone almost every day. The kids love it, especially the live music. I have been going every year since I was a kid. It is so nice being so close to it now, and not having to worry about parking, etc.
The girl next door is driving me nuts. She wants to come over all the fucking time, and does not take no for an answer and is knocking on the door constantly, which upsets the kids if they can't play at the time. I do feel bad for her because I think she is lonely and bored.
Today she fucking poured a bucket of water on Liam's head and face. I could have killed her. She can be really bitchy to Jocelyn too. |

| Happy 4th Birthday! |
[Mar. 24th, 2008|08:24 pm] |
Happy Birthday to my sweet girl.
I survived Disney Princess Classics on Ice!
We took a GO train to Toronto, went to see Disney Princess Classics on Ice, grabbed some subs to eat on the train, and hopped on the train home. I'm exhausted. I don't do well with crowds. The show was really amazing visually though, so that was good. Of course I forgot my camera.
We came home, had pizza and cake, opened presents, and now the kids are in bed.
J had quite the busy birthday'Easter weekend and made out like a bandit with all her gifts.
I seriously can't believe my little baby is 4!

| More house details |
[Feb. 19th, 2008|07:41 am] |
There are pictures here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/scott.crawford/HousePics
They are mostly close up details, so it doesn't give you the best idea of the house.
I'm in love with the fridge, which is included along with the stove, swing, trampoline if we want it, window treatments, and kitchen tiles.
I'm surprised by how fast and easy everything went. Our agent said we'll offer this with this included and they will probably counter with this and we'll accept. Their agent suggested a counter that was a little bit higher, but the woman said she didn't want lots of back and forth, so she suggested what we were expecting, but then her dad suggested a thousand less, so I feel like we saved a thousand bucks.
The grandma and a baby Liam's age were there both times we saw the house, which is really unusual, but she has a hard time walking. One of the reasons they are moving is because they need a one floor house because of that. Anyways, the kids loved their daughter and played with her a lot.
The funniest is Jocelyn thought that the baby came with the house. |

| Parent Night |
[Feb. 8th, 2008|11:26 am] |
Last night was parent night at the school where we want to send Jocelyn.
I am so impressed.
Twice a week, the entire program jk-5 gathers in the gym or the park for an assembly with music, drama, singing, etc. One is guided by parents. One is guided by teachers.
The best part is that you are welcome and encouraged to bring other children if you have them, which will be great that I can bring Liam.
Parents are encouraged to teach things to class.
They use a variety of teaching methods and encourage child led learning.
You can do part time home schooling and part time enrollment if you want as well.
I really like that there is a lot of mingling of ages, unlike most schools, which is one of the benefits of homeschooling, imo.
I also like the child directed learning, the parents valued as teachers, the focus on ecological and social responsibility.
The school has partnerships with the art gallery (they visit at least 6 times a year, artists come teach in the classroom, and the gallery hangs the students' artwork in the summer), McMaster University, among others.
The students recently lobbied city hall in favour of the idling and pesticide bans.
They are also working with the city architects in redesigning the park across the street, including a teaching garden.
I'm just so super excited.
J's teacher is super nice though she distracts me with hos much she looks like a young Sarah Jessica Parker.
The class sizes are 12-18 students, and there are often parents in the classroom. The one teacher said he has 13 kids in his class, and it is not unusual to have 3 or 4 parents in the class at a time.

There is a video of my Uncle Bob on the newspaper website.
javascript:void(window.open('http://www.thespec.com/multimedia/viewer/318470/','myWin',%20'toolbar=no,status=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no,width=750,height=460'))
At the end he says he hasn't had a chance to put on his make up. It made me laugh. |

| Camping |
[Aug. 14th, 2007|12:25 pm] |
We went camping this weekend and it was great.
20 of my friends had a group site, but we got our own site, so the kids wouldn't disturb them, and their drunken loudness wouldn't wake the kids.
Two of our friends got engaged last week, but waited until this weekend to tell everyone. Then they had a fake proposal in front of everyone and everyone was just standing there with their mouths open.
The real proposal was much better and included him in a tux on a bridge to an island on a pond with flowers and a big banner.
The second night, a bunch of people went to bed early because they were in recovery from Friday night. Well, only the drunks were up, and they went to bed without blowing out the candle. My friend Mary woke up at 4 and couldn't figure out why the fire was still going, so she over, and the picnic table was on fire. She wasn't wearing her glasses, so she grabbed the closest liquid and threw it on, but it happened to be alcohol, so it made it worse. The picnic table was in rough shape. ( Story and 25 pics ) |
